8th Entry

I think that its a good idea to use collaborative lessons in my curriculum but its important to make sure that they actually have a purpose. I remember only doing one collaborative project in high school and it was a complete failure and we actually stopped working on it and just went on to the next project. I like the idea because it gives students the opportunity to work with others, helping them with there communication skills.
I think the other advantages of using collaborative is the ability of teamwork. I feel like that we are teaching the students individually so working in collabortive partners I feel that you have the opportunity to learn more about your students through their interactionts with other students and you are able to find out the personalities of your students, getting to see which students are more of the take charge leaders and which students are more of the followers. I also like collabortive becasue it gives students the chance work on projects that are part of something much larger which is important because you are able to show students a sence of more depth or perspective towards art making

  1. Can you explain what your service learning project was? Why did it fail? What would you do differently now as an "art teacher" to make it a success? I think you have some great ideas of how collaborative learning is benefical not only to the students but the teacher as well.. good points.
